    Home Invasions and Armed Citizens

Some anti-civil rights proponents have argued that home invasions are an over-hyped reason to possess or own a fiream. For some reason my small area of the country seems to have a higher than normal incidence of home invasions. There also seems to be a large number of citizens exercising their civil right to possess and bear arms. Below is what happens when the two come together:

Cops: 1 killed during DeKalb home invasion
By Alexis Stevens and Mike Morris The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Despite learning a neighbor killed one home invasion suspect and wounded another, a woman in one DeKalb County neighborhood says she still feels safe.

"I've got my doors locked and my alarm," said Norma Baskerville, who runs a daycare out of her home.
Baskerville said she may have seen the two suspects Wednesday morning, hours before they allegedly tried to break in to a nearby home in the 2100 block of Eagles Nest Circle, about a half-mile south of Covington Highway on South Hairston Road.
Police on Thursday identified the homeowner as Levy Jones.

Police said Jones, 40, shot two men that entered his home after kicking in his front door Wednesday afternoon. One of the intruders, Nicholas Xavier Gibbs, 23, was transported to Grady Hospital, where he later died, according to Mekka Parish, police spokeswoman. He died shortly before 5 p.m., police said.

Gerald Barnard, 21, fled the scene, but later arrived at Grady for treatment of a gunshot wound, Parish said. He was treated at Grady and released, and is being held in the DeKalb County Jail, charged with burglary, Parish said Thursday morning.

Parish said police also arrested Sibyl Iheanetu, 21, after detectives determined that she drove the suspects to the location and "was the planned getaway driver." She was also charged with burglary.
DeKalb police interviewed the homeowner and a female who was also in the home at the time of the incident. No charges have been filed.

"They’re unsure if this was random or if this home was targeted," Parish told the AJC. Wednesday's incident was the second on the street in about a year, Baskerville said. "Another home was broken into about this time last year, about two houses away from me," she said.
Baskerville said she doesn't know the man who shot the suspects.
"He was ready," said Baskerville of her neighbor

Firearms are used every day by responsible citizens to stop or prevent crimes.
And lo, Kano looked down upon the field and saw the multitudes. Amongst them were the disciples of Uesheba who were greatly vexed at his sayings. And Kano spake: "Do not be concerned with the mote in thy neighbor's eye, when verily thou hast a massive stick in thine ass".
