Joe D'arce will be conducting a NO Gi seminar at the Vamos jiu-jitsu school in Holbrook NY on 9/27/09 from 11:00am-1:00pm. All the money will be donated to the family of Mike Nemes, a Southampton town Police officer who was killed in a jet ski accident while on vacation in North Carolina with his family. Mike did not have life insurance and the funeral cost the family over 15k.

Death of Southampton Town Police Officered On: Aug 23, 2009 (18:26:00)

It is with great sadness that the Southampton Town Police announce the untimely death of Police Officer Michael Nemes badge #228. Officer Nemes was killed in a Jet Ski accident while on vacation with his family in North Carolina on Saturday August 22, 2009.

Police Officer Nemes, age 37, was a five year veteran of the Town Police and prior New York City Police Officer in the 90th Pct- Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He was currently assigned to the Department's Community Response Unit and Emergency Services Unit.

Police Officer Nemes was Jet Skiing in the Brown's Inlet in Onslow County, North Carolina when he was involved in a single craft boating accident and ended up in the water unconscious. The exact cause of his death is still being investigated.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resourses Commission, Enforcement Division (a State Law Enforcement Agency) in conjuction with the Medical Examiner's Office is investigating the incident. Police Officer Nemes leaves behind his wife and 2 year old daughter. They are expecting their second child in October 2009.

Details regarding services for Police Officer Nemes have not yet been completed. It is asked that the privacy of the family be respected during this time of tragedy. Additional details, as they are received, will be provided.

Police Officer Nemes was truly a "great" man, an excellent officer and a true friend. He will be missed.

This seminar will be open to all skill levels, Gregg depasquale(BJJ black belt) will be assisting me teach the seminar, so we will seperate everyone in groups by skill level if need be.
