Assembly Bill 962 - CA - Limiting ammunition Sales

Passed 12 to 5 in California yesterday. Starting July 2010, no longer allowed to buy ammo online or out of state, must submit to finger printing to buy ammo, supply state issue ID etc. There is also a provision about 50 rounds per month.

    Pretty sad.

Now since it has passed the committee, it has to pass the assembly, then the senate. Now would be a good time to write letters to the assembly peoples stating your opposition.

That makes no sense. Who needs more than 50 rounds a month? Sport shooters. How many rounds does a murderer need? Just one. This law does nothing useful.

    I'm glad I don't live in CA.

I think the courts will rule against this stupid law. Something about infringement of your rights will probably be the reason.

LOL, CA is almost bankrupt, and now they want to keep track of everyone who buys ammunition, and how many rounds they buy?

There is nothing in the bill that limits you buying more than 50 rounds a month. The bill restricts you from transferring or reselling more than 50 rounds in a month. It's aimed at stopping grey market ammo sales.

Doesn't mean it's a good bill. But at least criticize it for what it is.

That's not the way I read it. What's the difference between a "gray market" transfer of ammo and legal sale? Anyone can buy ammo at walmart or any number os sporting goods stores, I don't see how there is a gray or black market for ammo.

I will be writing to letters about this. Today.

You know what, I don't really care what they say I can and cannot do, I like to do it anyway. Yay for pistol grips!
