    WAMMA??

    So, who's in this "Alliance"?

They mentioned M-1 before the Fedor - Timmy-fight, but I was under the impression that that organisation tanked. So I'm a little confused here. They were bragging that the WAMMA-title that Fedor got was a world title and not just a single promotion thing, is this just a hype or are there actually major promotions backing that statement.

I would assume it's the first, does anyone have any info?

They're a sanctioning organisation, essentially modelled on those in boxing except without the enormous sanctioning fees and with an external independent ranking board to avoid the bias so prevalent in the sweet science. This is the first belt they've handed out. M1 and Strikeforce have shown some interest in putting on WAMMA sanctioned title fights in the future.

    Ok, thanks.

How do people see this playing out? Will it be a unifying force between promotions? Or will it be something that a few promotions use (probably smaller ones) and the ones that can do fine without it (DREAM, UFC...) won't bother?

The latter for the forseeable future, I should imagine. There's really no incentive for the UFC, especially, to buy into an arrangement like that when they've already got the market sewn up.
