    Gracie vs Machado JJS?

Is there a major difference betweeen the Machado style of BJJ and Gracie style? or are they essentially the same thing?

They are the same thing. The Machados learnt from Carlos Gracie Jnr as well as Rickson and Crolin Gracie, just as Ralf, Renzo, Ryan etc did.

They are cousins. Great read from JJ's new book about his family joining the Gracie Clan.

    Submission Wrestling.
they're both BJJ still, but Machado seems to have a different process, i.e. they go for submission more often or they continually go for submissions etc. You'll probably see distinct difference in their styles of trainign in you research into it, e.g. the one mentioned above.

I heard something that Machado has more emphasis on takedowns and the clinch for getting a top position (along with the guard/mount stuff, duh...) than Gracie.

Of course, I could be wrong.

one has more emphasis on stuff than the other. One has less emphasis on stuff than other. I forget which is wich, but better BJJ guys know the difference. I suck at trivial things like tournaments and who wins what so I don't know the answer; I just know there's a difference.
