Roberto is Brazilian. I met him at some fights at the school that I teach at. He is right, Mickey trained with Paul Tom for a little while and Paul's son (younger teenager) beat him pretty badly. (on a side note, Paul's kid is very, very talented) The story I heard, and this is second hand, was that Mickey became so frustrated after getting his a$$ handed to him repeatedly by Paul's kid that he (Mickey) stood up after the last session and kicked Paul's kid in the head.

Mickey trained at every BJJ school in the state and was ultimately shown the door. And when I say "every," I mean it. At least every school in the state that I know of . . . and I'm fairly sure I know them all.

The gyms he opened in Korea are apparently closed and Mickey told "some people" that he's coming back to the USA to sue myself and Dave Johnson. Its alright, I guarantee we have better lawyers.

I owe Roberto an apology. I assumed he was Brazilian. He is actually a Mexican and was something like the 5th Mexican to get a black belt in BJJ. He is also a Carlson Gracie guy. I received this information from Ricardo Medina, the 1st Mexican BJJ black belt.

DJColdfusion, id like to thank you for your efforts in bringing this fraud to the attention of the ma community. It must be hard to lose a friend in the process. I wish you all the best in your further efforts to set the record straight.

Before his self promotion to Black Belt, Choi competed in the 2007 Pan Ams No-Gi in the Purple division.

Here is Mickey Choi's Purple Belt match against Ryan Beauregard: zcHDkf4xN-M

DJColdfusion, were you present for this match?

FWIW, video is posted as an historic side-note.
