Generally, Derek will start out the day having everyone run a lap or two and then stretch. Then he will move eveyone on the practicing kicks, maybe some sparring (Derek is the one to spar, but Joel and even some of the girls can give you a run for your money). Then class generally moves on to kata practice. Katas, bag work, and fast, well executed moves are some of the schools best strongpoints. As well as spending atleast the last 20 min of every class working on random self defenses that anyone might need on the street.
