Spyderco was the first to make a popular knife with a pocket clip, the opening hole (there were a few studded versions and such before that, and even little clamp-on thumb studs for the Buck 110, but Spyderco made it useful.) They were the ones to make it popular to carry a "black" knife made of light materials with no regard for beauty or tradition.

They were tactical before tactical was cool. And you can trust them.

If you're really Tacticalol you'll use Type III Nylon (550 cord) for your shoelaces anyway.

Will they support my weight after walking home in the rain ? The leather Tactical laces I bought broke almost as soon as I kicked the stool from under my feet ... they tightend then .. pop ! I fell down and got another ouchy to top it all off ...

    Don ,

Next time I buy a folder I will keep them in mind for sure . But I have a feeling it will be a LONG time .

Seriously? It's called 550 cord because it'll support up to 550lbs of weight.

It'll hold much more than that. Can't find the specs but total strength combined with the seven strands and the outer sheath is more than 550.

Edit -- However, it IS only rated to 550.... So, nevermind.

550 and duct tape for the win.

Ahhh, but the Emersons--actual Emersons--are expensive and many have that goofy chisel grind.

If you want the wave, you can get Spydie Enduras and Delicas with it now.

I still recommend the CUDA Maxx, but not everyone wants to carry something that big.

Emersons are pricey no doubt. The enduras and delicas are just too "cheap" feeling to me. Balance isn't right and they will not last nearly as long. To each there own though. You could replace them 5 times for the price of one Emerson so it's a tradeoff.

I prefer to spend money on quality but at the end of the day in a defense situation even a $5 taiwan knife will cut.

    Red Elvis,

I guess the new Enduras/Delicas have nested steel liners in the plastic handles. Gives them a bit more heft and strength. Might be worth checking out...especially now that Sal's licensed the Wave from Ernie...
