    Knife defence in aikido/hapkido/karate

If you have seen Jim Carey knife defence; you would know how shockingly realistic his imitation of many karate/akido/tkd really is.

I look at krav maga's knife defence and i cant help but applaud.

But, how did such ackward methods of knife defence come about?

Why is it so common? Why do they do it like....jim Carey.

Most Japanses Knife defense I've seen are predicated off of the notion that you are fighting someone in armor with a short sword. Basically they're mostly remnants for the battlefield portion of Ju Jitsu.

Thus most assume that the person is making a weighted and rather committed stroke.

Krav is for men going through midlife crises or women wanting a false sense of empowerment.

    Do STAB instead.

    Have a nice day.

I second Aesop's recommendation of STAB. Great program.

The few things i've seen about Transwell's STAB put me in the "where i have to sign" mood.

Unfortunately, there is not available here afaik. So i tried based on video instruction and training mates and it works fine.

But nothing comparable to a real instruction i suppose.

Knife fighting + FMA = win

I recommend kombaton/arnis/escrima/kali for good knife fighting skills.

SBG actually looks down on a lot of Kali. Their footwork is generally flat too.

And she'll have fun fun fun until her daddy disarms her switchblade?

While the video was good, it was a little short on overall content, IMO. Those who have studied STAB, can you tell me more about the system and what makes it unBullshido?
