King's earliest poetry like The Dark Man, is pretty dark and like the Tower and its beams, part of the structure of his multiverse.

I'd say you have to read at least...10 of his older books, especially The Stand, the entire Dark Tower series, and his more recent work like Dr. Sleep to get a good overview of his legendarium, which is my 2nd favorite of all time.
I've read The Stand, as well as Carrie, Cujo, It, Christine, and a few more I can't remember off the top of my head. His memoir On Writing is also fucking excellent.

Yep, I've read all of those. I'm glad I don't have to navigate his mind on a regular basis.

'“I am no advocate of passivity,” Coffin Mott said in an 1860 speech. “Quakerism, as I understand it, does not mean quietism. The early Friends were agitators; disturbers of the peace; and were more obnoxious in their day to charges, which are now so freely made, than we are.”'

It's the same for all writers: Alcohol.

    If you say so.

I've written a mean thing or two on pure Dr. Pepper.
