ARMA claims that they're different from the larger HEMA community, but I'm just using the umbrella term here. ARMA Korea is the only HEMA group in the nation. Spearheaded by 엔트레리, they had their first meetings in early 2013, and it has been a non-profit organization since.

The Mensur groups still do that.
In fact getting the facial scar is considered rite of passage.
I think deliberately cauliflowering your ears in grappling is dumb,
    but different folks, different strokes....

Any group that uses steel without face protection are idiots. Getting a knick in the face is no big deal, but it only takes one missed shot or strong movement to cause serious damage. Even if the swords are blunt and made lighter it's still really, really, really dumb to not use face protection. I have ended up with cracked ribs and black eyes just from wooden swords. Using steel without proper gear is just careless and asking for a serious injury.
