Either start a fight club with your friends or start hanging out in bars that have tough reputations.

Real-life experience is substantially more valuable than training in controlled environments.

Online courses are something I can only recommend for someone who has actual training to a high level in a similar discipline, and even then its not that good an idea.

Ive occasionally picked up cheap DVD's on some styles of interest (Ziranmen, Sambo, Vale Tudo) to see what they are about and if there are ideas I like. Thing is I have a Judo background so that Sambo stuff has some corrolation and I can go 'thats a cool idea I'll see if I can try that on the mat.' You might use them to compare your style to another (say in my case, how does Uechi Ryu differ from Goju Ryu) You wont get that as an upstart.

But seriously, you most likely do have some options you havent considered, and I find it very hard to believe you have absolutely no time to attend a class. Even if you cant get to a fight class for self defense, go pick up some heavy objects, do your push ups and go running.
