School walkout - mine not included.

I've forbidden my 16 year old daughter from participating in the walkout organized by Womens March. Daughter thinks she'd walking in support of the seventeen people who died as a result of the latest school shooting. She's there to get an education, not to be manipulated without knowledge of the overall goals of this group.A little about the group-https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/01/o...ives-hate.htmlhttps://www.theatlantic.com/politics...-march/555122/what they say-https://www.womensmarch.com/Daughter is not happy. Thinks I don't value her opinion in this case. What say the people here?

She's right you don't value her opinion.

Even if she is wrong (which I think she is) you would be contributing to her character growth by teaching her to protest for what she thinks is right.

Protesting is for faggots. Sling lead or just shut the **** up and vote.

Did you have a discussion with her about what's going on? Including sharing article she posted here and discussing them with her?

I think it's important to know whether or not her opinion is an informed opinion.

I do value her opinion. We can discuss anything. I rarely feel the need to put my foot down. She's an awesome kid. At sixteen, this is a first.

It's about the organization heading the event. I'll not have her manipulated, no matter what her personal intentions. She has a heart of gold and is really pissed at me.

That in itself is why I've forbidden her to participate.

I do consider you an authority on homosexual Fellatio and all other things queer so maybe the gays are into that?

Protesting raises awareness and that can lead to more people coming to your side of a cause at the voting both, so there's that. Protesting is step 1a, voting is step 1b. Slinging lead is for when those steps are not permitted or are ignored.
