I'm glad to hear you won't be out on the street.
Some of my out of work friends with large mortgages and property taxes may not be so lucky..

This was a tax+jobs bill, right? Where are those.

Last year, I lost my job. I was on unemployment and went to a publically funded vocational school. This worked out well for me- I now have a much better career than if I had simply tried to get a job with my existing skills.

Now, if we lived in a minimal government society, that would not have been possible. Yet the conservative mantra of improving your financial position is to "pull yourself up by your bootstraps". Government helped me to do that. So, the narrative of improving your position vs suckling on the government teat is a false dichotomy. I believe it persists because we love an easy narrative with a definable bad guy, and because wealthy capitalists have been executing a decades long smear campaign against the government, because taxes and regulation hurt their bottom line. I admit that even my own last sentence tends towards an easy bad guy. And certainly there are people who use welfare in a way that does not enable them to help themselves, but when people single them out as the reason for high taxes and society's ills, I just don't buy it.

New Jersey is a strange place. I understand that state law mandated biometric safety on firearms before such technology was invented, stating that as soon as it was invented it must be used or something like that.

On the other hand, it does have Rutt's Hut: http://www.ruttshut.com/
