What's your background? A TKD guy and a boxer will have very different ideas about sparring. Your example "keep eye contact", for example, is not universally recommended. I don't strive for eye contact in sparring, I focus on what the shoulders and hips are doing.

Who are you writing this article for? Will you be paid? If so, why should we work for free for you? Why have an arbitrary high number like 100? I think that's a recipe for repetition, paraphrasing and padding.

Just before sparring, quickly go through your 100 point checklist.

    100 tips for sparring?

    Hmmmm ... how about:
    1. actually practicing a Martial Art instead of pretending you do, this way you don't do stupid things like think there are 100 general/generic tips that apply to sparring or that sparring is so generic that a list that large would be in anyway useful.
    2. actually sparring under the ruleset you are studying.
    3. ask your coach for your sparring tips.
    4. spar the way your coach wants you to.

    ... and finally
    5.a. shut the **** up
    and
    5.b. shower before class.

Please by all means, feel free to quote me on those.

Avoid the fetal position - it offers little in the way of offensive or defensive options.
