My elbow clicks when I punch

No pain or anything. There's just this annoying click in my elbow whenever I throw a punch.
Why is this? And why is it that it only happens when I throw a punch in the air? When I punch a heavy bag, it's all good and normal. There's no clicking, there's no pain, and there's decent force inflicted on the bag.

(and yes I do warm up, stretch, etc beforehand so that's obviously not the problem)

(and sorry if I sound like a noob, because I kind of am)

Ok, I am a fairly low level striker, but it sounds like when you are punching the air you are locking out your elbow. This is common among beginners in striking. There are probably people more qualified than me to offer good technical correction on this, but it sounds like this is the problem.

    extending your punches?

    Cause, yeah you shouldn't.
I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.
