If I may be indulged in a moment of vanity:

I hit 65 this year. I steal the line from the Toby Keith song as my operating philosophy:

"I ain't as young as I once was, but I am as young once as I ever was."

Here is a bit of me as I once was:

Thank you! I can't wait to dig into it, I love watching you hit people with sticks.
I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

    I have two artificial hips,
I am in queue to get two artificial knees,
    And two artificial shoulders,
I have had almost all my top teeth knocked out while fighting challenge matches,
But still I come back for more daily combat sport activities.
As far as I am concerned, I am Darth-Fucking-Vader.
Old guys may not be as fast or always as strong as the young bucks, but we usually know more and are less likely to back down when we get hit with some punishment, because we live with punishment on a daily basis.
Respect to you, Crafty Dog, and your many contributions to real fighting arts.

Tail wags for the kind words gents.

Murphy, I've had two docs tell me I need my right hip replaced. I have some really good work on the horizon and I am figuring out things in the gym that have improved my hip a lot from where it was, so at the moment I am seeing how far I can take what I can do for myself before I decide if/when to get the hip replacement.

    Any comments/suggestions/advice?

I'll PM you my phone number, and I'm glad to tell you how I keep rolling with the two artificial hips.
Also, the type of hip implant you get makes a big difference.
I know a small network of artificial hip grapplers.
It is usually not the end of our activities, just a new part of the human condition to explore.

Actually, I meant to type 'dig' but that autocorrect was too fitting not to share.
