When I see someone in a judo gi doing bjj, my second thought is how fun it's going to be to joke them with it (since there is so much of it).

My first thought is " I hope he doesn't throw me on my head".

I'm 40 years old and played football, baseball, and basketball in high school and college. If I had it to do all over again, I'd have done only judo.

My kids do bjj, gymnastics, and swimming. My hope is that they make it to 40 years old with far fewer injuries than I have.

    Sorry for straying off topic.

Happy Fathers Day to all the Bullies.

Wow. When was this? I did the Alaska State Championships twice (2008 and 2009? something like that), and no mention as made of blue and white gis. They just had one side put the little red strip of cloth in the obi.

I know that the IJF has very specific rules regarding judo make, measurement, weave, etc. Does BJJ use a standard that exacting for its own high-level tournaments?

One of our regulars also does BJJ, at first he had the run of the mill beginners BJJ gi which was alot like our Judo gis. A month ago he got a Gamness (or something similar) made of a rip stop like material. I have to say I don't really like randori with him anymore, the feel of a lighter gi throws me off a bit.

Maybe it's just me but I prefer practicing Judo with someone wearing a Judo gi. I don't know how I would feel about BJJ with a Judo gi though... seems like it may be a disadvantage to the Judo gi wearer with the sleeves and stiffer lapels, but what the hell do I know.
