Over the past two decades, there have been a handful of attempts to bring Women's MMA into the mainstream. Some of those were half-hearted, WNBA-esque. Some tried to appeal to a predominately male audience by playing on the attractiveness of the female fighters.

The thing is, MMA fans, well a good portion of them on this website, aren't stupid. We see through the marketing games and the insincere approaches to featuring women in MMA, and this taints the bouts with a greasy sheen that very nearly renders them all unpalatable.

Invicta FC, stands in contrast to these and is a hopeful sign that Women's role in the sport involves more than holding up cards between rounds. Fighters are promoted as fighters first; the fact that they're female is incidental.
