Stever, considering the problems that USJA is going through now, I doubt anybody there cares about a false affiliation.

Maybe true, but problems within the USJA is really not relevant regarding a false claim about them.

Rey came to Nationals and competed in two of the toughest divisions, so although he came about the sport dishonestly, I applaud him for taking his lumps from real, dyed-in-the-wool sambo players.

I also had a little randori with him the following day, and he isn't a hack. Just wish he hadn't fabricated all that bs.

    Dominion MMA San Antonio

Rey is still going at it with his dojo. Training....some fighters for MMA fights...whoever will step up to the plate of cornknee training and such. Go on google and watch the 4 or so videos he does of him saying how he trains fighters, how he gets calls from Judo Jean LaBell, etc... yeh I can tell you there was much lying with this one from pure experience and others who left in time from the same.

    DOMINION MMA

So, just by looking at my user name, everyone who knows me and this situation knows its me. I'll start with the Spartan Pit. trained there for a while with a couple buddies. Left for Moxie to help train my buddy for an amateur MMA fight. Elite (Moxie) had just opened and was a huge facility with great equipment. Albert the owner was bringing in coaches of all kids to offer classes. Rey was there teaching Sambo classes. It seemed like a great counter to BJJ and I encouraged my buddies to pursue training at Dominion with me and me three kids. I brought five paying members and then loaned Rey upwards or $2,500.00 with the intentions of putting on seminars and BJJ tournaments. Needless to say, everything went south. I offered business opportunities to help him repay me and was rubuked. Eventually he just paid most, but not before using the names of his members to scare me. He told me that this huge dude was going hurt me or my kids, and it's unfortunate because I think it's more unfair to that guy than anything Rey had ever done to me. He also threatened to have me arrested, telling me that his top BJJ student hatred me and was gunning for me. He talked bad about his own most dedicated students, especially if they were gay. Girl or boy, he talked about gay people and how they always ruined the gym. This isn't me being mean, this isn't me saying anything that TWO other students can't verify verbatim. As far as his skills I'm sure he has personally developed significantly over these last years with all the scrutiny on his gym and his skills. The Sambo comes from a great judo teacher, Mata. The grappling from Hayastan. not sure if that makes it Sambo, but it did make us competitive. I was part of the group who came to Austin. I didn't compete, I watched and videoed. I'm sure there's a lot I left out....
Butt that's my really shitty experience with his lies and bullshido.

You're fine, for now, CBuck. We don't like bickering and name-calling in the MABS threads, we have other forums for that sort of nonsense. MABS is reserved for serious, on-topic discussion of the subject matter in each thread. Anecdotes, such as yours, are generally OK.
