    Thanks everyone.

Will give all that a try over the next few sessions.

It sucks not having any real instruction at this element, but my local instructor just isn't interested in sparring.

FUZZY: The competition I was thinking of trying out is this one -

That seem likely the same one?

Not sure if I can make it yet, but working on that basis because without a target I am a lazy ****.

The main reason I've picked this as a good opportunity is that the couple of times I've met the senior people involved, they have been just super-helpful and positive.

I feel like I can go there and suck, and instead of leaving feeling like a tool that wasted everybody's time, they'll probably be happy I tried and give me plenty of tips to take away.

Cool. I might go to that.

    To watch.

    And stalk you.

    A bit.

No touching me, except with the flats of your hands.
I don't want no instrusive fingers... Well-meaning or otherwise.

Have fun man! I don't know if this tourney follows suit, but most of the competitive FMA event I've seen or been too are pretty darn suportive of everybody there. The scene is still small enough that people know each other from the different schools or past events and just being there is a show of support and comeraderie.

I'm certain you'll get the chance to network and meet new people to train and spar with as well.

What length of stick are they using for long stick? Bangkaw? Tapado?

Permalost: I think its 5 inch if the 2008 Arnis Alliance rules I read are still current.

    Ignorami: I'm 99% sure that's the one.

I'm going for single, double and knife. (because I hate myself and want to suffer).
What's your weight class? Perhaps we shall meet, nobly, on the field of battle.

I've no idea of my weightclass.
    I guess I weigh about 13 - 13.5 stone?

I'll keep in touch about whether I'm going to make it. (One more reason to go now.)

Happy to receive a thrashing from you in any of the above.
Is it 20 per category, or overall?

Er, you mean five feet? Unless they've got a dulo dulo division.

I can't say anything useful FMA wise so...

Good luck, and don't forget to tell your opponents may thy knife chip and shatter.

PS. Wear magic pants for awesomeness. :P
