    Question about "the twister"

I saw the UFC fight where the Korean Zombie used the twister for a submission and it made me wonder, what would have happened if his opponent hadn't tapped? Would the sideways pressure on the spine actually snap it? And if it did what would be the effects?

The one time I've seen it in competition the person had to be taken to the hospital. What was the injury? I have no idea.

I've heard that it could break your neck/paralyze someone but I'm not sure if that's true or overblown like a lot of fight stories

It puts pressure on the back more than the neck.

More specifically I meant the spinal cord... What exactly do you mean by the back? I've never had the pleasure of experiencing one first hand.
