    New in Chicago

    Hey all:

I've been wanting to get into some kind of martial arts for some time now. I'm in the Western Burbs of Chicago and was hoping someone could give me some insight. I'd like to do something effective and legit.

Thanks in advance for your time

    Welocme to Bullshido.

    Shidokan has a good rep.

I looked at Budokai, the other thread you just started and I think that they take themselves very seriously. And that Shidokan guys could beat them up. But who knows. Maybe they are wonderful. I doubt it. I trained in Japanese arts a long time and they often ate raw fish and drank beer after class. I doubt that Budokai people do that. I couldn't stand watching all of their video, but I saw no evidence of kumite (free sparring). But reading their blurb and watching their video convinced me that they are very serious, indeed.

Now go read the sticky on How to find a good school.

    Welcome to Bullshido.

I thought I spelled it wrong, but as I said I'm a mechanic not an English professor.
