    Akban Ninjutsu [questions]

    Hello.

i've been lurking these forums for a while and have decently decided to join to ask a few questions.

i have read throughout the forums that Ninjutsu takes alot of crap from members of this forum, now, i've recently started training at the Israeli organisation "Akban" and i'm slightly bothered about the criticism that the art takes from so many people.

personally i enjoy what we do here in Akban and i feel the practicallity of most things (im a newb so i wouldn't really pass judgements) and overall im looking for a mixed style which is pretty much what i have here.

so anyone please share your thoughts on this?

Based on YouTube it looks like you guys spend a lot of time live sparring both striking and grappling? If that's the case, mildly goofy Japanophilia aside, your 'ninjitsu' is not the kind that catches a lot of flack on this board.

Well, there's one thing I don't understand. On the AKBAN website, it says that Doron Navon is the only non-Japanese Shihan that trained with Hatsumi...but wasn't Stephen Hayes awarded the Shihan title? Same with Richard Van Donk? And is Navon's Shihan title recognized by the Dai-Nippon Butoku-kai...or does it even need to be? It also says that Yossi Sherriff is a Bujinkan 5th Dan...meaning a 5th Dan in Budo Taijitsu, correct?

I'm not trying to start an argument or anything...just looking to get the credentials straight.

Who cares? They cross-train, spar and it looks like they can fight.

Isn't anyone over 8th Dan called 'shihan' in the Buj anyway? And what does the Dai-Nippon Butoku-kai have to do with it? They might have some interest if Hatsumi was to grant Menkyo Kaiden in one of his non-imaginary koryu, has he done so as far as you know?

Don't bother with details it only confuses the issue. Next you guys are going to be asking for proof of claims.
It is just another retard of ninjers. This retard of ninjers just happen to role all Israeli style.

    Retard of ninja's.

Is that the collective noun for a group of ninjas? Like 'herd of caribous'.

To be fair to this Ninjers they look mostly to be in shape and I don't see any of the morbidly obese mouth breathers you usually see in Ninjering.

They also sparred, albeit badly with spastic striking.

So is this as bad as most Ninjering, no. Will you actually learn any usuable skills, maybe. Will you be better at fighting than someone who's trained for an equivalent amount of time in a more credible style, no.

Didn't look too bad to me, goofy stances aside. They kick OK but have dodgy boxing, it seems. The grappling looked credible as well, having perused their website I think they have BJJ'ers and Judoka in their midst.

More videos where they look like having the right idea despite additional ninja silliness:

Sorry but I'm moving this to YMAS.

Whilst I appreciate the apparent connection with Ninjutsu/Japan thus a supposedly "traditional" art. I don't see this particular topic/thread being confined to a serious/semi serious discussion.
