    I use that exact same series, except I don't put both my hands on their hips. I'll try that out next time I'm on the mat. Thanks for the detail.

    Edit: In an effort to give my post more technical content, my favorite sweep from that series is to switch their hips with my feet while they're elevated and follow them over to mount when they land on their back.

    Just noticed your edit. So you mean you do like the last one he talks about where he sort of lets them drop and takes their back, but you use your feet to flip them over first?

    No, that sounds like Tomoe Nage and that's not what I do. I'm not sure my verbal skills are up to the description. When my feet are already on their hips and I'm controlling at least one arm, they stand to try to regain a little posture, or I just get a big elevation while in butterfly, as they are coming down I push with my foot on one hip and pull on the opposite arm. On the same side as the arm I pull, the other foot collapses and the push pull of the hips with my feet and their shoulders/arms with my hands causes them to start turning on their side in the air so that they fall on their back. I stay fairly tight and follow them over to mount. It's basically a shortened version of the butterfly hook sweep, except I manipulate their hips and upper torso while their feet are off the ground instead of hooking behind a knee.

    It's definitely a timing thing. I showed it to a brown belt I like and he had to break the move up into two separate elevations. One to set his feet properly on my hips and the second to switch my hips with his feet to finish the sweep. I'm able to do it in one step, even during sparring, but it took me a long time to develop it.
