    Howdy

    Hi,

Just posting an obligatory noobie thread.
I was also wondering if this is the place to ask about gyms and the such?

I have now read the FAQ and feel retarded, so before a rod is driven up my ass I'm reading the "Finding a good martial arts school" article

    No worries at all.
    Welcome to the site.

The FAQs, of course, are always a good place to start. Your own Newbietown thread, which you of course now have, is a good place to ask your personally specific questions regarding your needs or concerns with the gyms in your area.

What are you looking for? Standing punching or kicking striking? Throwing or grappling? A little of all or alot of none? Regardless of what you decide to train, there is *somebody* here who has trained it or is training it and can help you out.

There is also a whole section devoted to Training and Nutrition, specific style subforums and Advanced and Basic Techniques. Look around and, if I may say, you are one-up on many new posters by reading the Stickies!

Don't be shy, ask away and welcome to the website.

    Hey,

I'm mainly looking for a MMA style(that being striking, grappling, and clinch work) curriculum, But I'm not quite sure of any schools in my area, my google-fu has failed me.
Thanks for the warm welcome, sorta to the contrary of my expectation of the site

    Welcome to Bullshido.

I'd be happy to apply my googe-fu, on your behalf. Where, may I ask, do you live?

Also, if you veer into YMAS (comedy section) or Trollshido (worse still) it's virtually no holds barred int3rnet wars. They are lightly moderated. Just an FYI, so you don't get baited into a trans-int3rtubes-rantfest with someone just drunkposting, and pulling your chain.

The search function is a lovely thing here...and you can find TONS of amazing material on technique, styles, history, opinion, and hilarity.

If you're confused by someone's response, on a thread, double-check up top, what forum you're in. The decorum spectrum is broad here, depending on where you are posting.

Once again, post your town, and we'll see what we can find.

Here is a whole sub-forum dedicated to school reviews. Poke around or search for schools in your area.

Otherwise, you are completely welcome to posting where you live and the intrepid team of Bullies can Google-ur-Fu and see what kind of help we can provide.

No problem, however this is Newbietown and we fear the strong hand of Omega, who will pound us into an unrecognizable mass of jelly for trolling here.

Open forums, we are all assholes.

    again,welcome.

Sorry about the double post but I can't edit my previous post.

    http://www.findmmagym.ca/nova-scotia...tial-arts.html
Does this gym seem any good? Its really close to my house as well
http://palookasboxingclub.ca/ this one is a bit farther away but seems like it has way bigger gym and more trainers, also this one has a working website.
Peter Martell teaches the MMA class it says he's a renzo BB, is there a database I can look this up in?
Also I had another question, me being a minor do I need special permission to do MA's?
    Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I think I just made my choice based on this alone http://palookasboxingclub.ca/content/amateur-boxing

I think you have made the right choice the facilities look really good and they have a Renzo Gracie black belt teaching BJJ, all in all look like a really good gym.
