    "Boxing vs. MMA"

    • This was just strange. Corey Williams claims to be 14-2 in boxing, but according to Boxingrec he's only 4-10. I also think he fought Tommy Morrison in an unsanctioned fight.

Check out Wade Shipp's interview at the end.

    "Boxing vs. MMA"

He says he's a "pure" boxer, yet throws a half-assed kick 13 seconds into the fight. I think that was the only thing he threw the entire fight.

Find a better example of a "pure" boxer in MMA and that'll be worth a video.

If you notice, I put the the title in quotes. I didn't post this video because it was a good example of a pure boxer fighting in MMA, I posted it because it's weird and because it's funny to see an asshat get kicked in the head.

The interview at the end was excellent. Shipp didn't take any cheap shots at boxing, and I love the smile on his face: "He took it."

Did the guy order his shorts from gimps r us?

Anyway, here he is fighting Tommy Morrison in a "muay thai" bout (yeah, I don't know either).

He's too legit to quit, obviously...

Corey Williams is the epitome of legitimacy.

So to my understanding, that fight was to me an MMA match. But then it turned into a Muay Thai match. And when they actually started fighting, it was basically a boxing match.

This "Boxer" in the video is a soup can. But that is not uncommon in MMA. I am not saying MMA fighters are not tough, but most are poor boxers, and this "Boxer" was a poor example of a Boxer.
If his claim to fame was fighting Tommy Morrison, Tommy has not been relevant in over 15 years, and was never considered a great heavy weight when he did box. He beat an old George Foreman, who came out of retirement.

Yes, I'm very well aware of that by the fact that his record is 4-10 and how he performed in the video.

The real mystery here is why he lied about his record and why he called out MMA when he isn't even a good boxer. My best guess is that's his way to hype up fights and make money. According to Sherdog, he has a 5-5 record in MMA. 8 of those fights were prior to the Shipp fight, and he even had an armbar victory.

I suppose some people just have to do wacky **** if they want to make money in the fight game. It looks like Williams even won a one-night eight-man MMA tournament back in 2005. I'm kind of warming up to him.
