  1. Hi,
checked links, neither look like your going to get "blood and snot" training. The first link is for a guy under Sam Kwok : Kwok is TERRIBLE, ive touched hands with some of his guys, no real combat skills and had obviously never trained under real pressure. The other link isnt great also. Heres the thing mate, if you want wc as self protection, it is VERY hard to find "functional" wc. apart from my lineage, the organisations i would recommend would be or .If neither in your area, if you are really looking for functional sd i would look for muay thai. imo a year of mt (as long as you are sparring) would enable you to demolish 70 percent of most wing chun "instructors" out there. Terrible statistic but ime true
    good luck,

Thanks - I'm still set on Wing Chun, and I agree with what you say. I've taken in what they said about realistic training, but they just seem to all be pro-MMA, which i'm not interested in.

I'm going to check out a few Wing Chun places around here and see what they're like.

Thanks for the info, I was a bit put-off putting all this research and picking Wing Chun to be told to just do MMA at a school near me that I already had looked at and didn't like the look of.

Obviously hard to judge from a website, but do you see anything off-putting on the following?:

The second one there people said stay away from as there was no mention of "alive training" but on further look I found they do full contact combat in the photos section.

Basically the above two are reasonably priced and close to me.
