ATT - Orlando & Longwood offer classes in MMA, Submission Grappling, BJJ, Muay Thai, Boxing, and also has a Cardio classes that are hard as hell. The gym features quite a few top rung fighters who have MMA experience ranging from local promotions to Pride and the UFC.
The school is directly affiliated with American Top Team out of Coconut Creek, Florida.
The BJJ and submission grappling classes are top notch and the MMA classes can be brutal. The head instructor, Paul Rodriguez, is a member of ATT; has a pro record of 10-8-2; has fought in the UFC, Pride, AFC, KOTC, GCM, Deep, and Pancrease, and is a BJJ Brown from Marcio Simas, now studying under Ricardo Liborio at ATT.
The BJJ and Sub. Grappling classes vary in size. I've seen as many as 35-40 guys in the night grappling class and as many as 25 in the BJJ class. The MMA classes are the same with usually 10-20 fighters in either the beginners or advanced classes.
At times Ben Saunders (TUF Season 6, CFC Middleweight Champion), John Morrison, Steve Ramos or Jason Petino will teach the Sub. Grap. and/or BJJ classes if Paul is not available. Ben, Steve, Jason, and John are BJJ purple belts. Steve and Jason are wrestlers with over a decade each of wrestling experience, both just received their BJJ purple belts in July 2008, and both are up and coming pro fighters. The good thing is that we get BJJ guys pro-fighters from all over who come in to train both gi and no-gi all of the time; purples, browns, and blacks. We also get a lot of pro fighters on the mat who are either members of ATT or are otherwise in town for fights and looking for a place to roll or train.
The MMA classes are primarily taught by Paul, Ben, Jason or Steve. The contact level you is usually agreed upon by you and your partner. Typically the beginner classes are light-medium contact during free spar and the advanced classes you pick your level of punishment.
The MMA Cardio class is pretty hard core in that by the end of it you will be using the heavy bags to hold themselves up. The cardio class is required for those on the MMA ATT-Orlando Fight Team.
The Muay Thai class can be brutal and the contact level here is as heavy as you and your partner agree. The Muay Thai classes at the University branch are taught by Paul, Ben and Jason and the Muay Thai at the Longwood branch is taught by Jose Figuroa (Cage Warriors Lightweight Belt holder).
Equipment: 16 full length heavy bags; 1 heavy ball thing; 2 large mat areas measuring @ 25' x 25'-30' (front mats) and 22'x20' (back mats); 2 bathrooms; full changing room and a shower.
