Although, MMA people have to adapt a bit to stand a chance, since Mr. Chan said:

I always felt that in recent MA movies such as Bulletproof Monk and Daredevil that the female leads don't look convincing in their roles. This is because they look like skinny models and not like atheletes. Their arms are skinny and their movements are akward.

Beijing, China (AHN) - Actor Jackie Chan launched a Chinese reality TV show on Saturday with hopes of finding new martial arts film stars.

"A lot of actors are good at fighting but their style is not beautiful," Chan reportedly said on Saturday. "If you can incorporate dance and an ability to perform kung fu, that would be better."

"The Disciple," produced by Chan and BTV, a Beijing station, will run next year from March to October, according to the Associated Press.

Contestants will compete to appear in a movie Chan will produce. The film will be released before the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and will feature 10 winners from the show.

More than 100,000 people have reportedly signed up to try out for the show.

Who the hell wants to see a good fighter in a movie? The actors in 300 probably only have a cursory knowledge of how Spartans fought; why should a martial artist in a movie need to know how to actually fight? Fuck realism.

No one involved in 300 had any knowledge whatsoever about how the Spartans fought.

The scene where Leonidas lectures Ephialtes on the phalanx is quite ironic, given they rather blatently didn't fight in one for almost the entire film. Instead they broke ranks at the earliest opportunity and busted out the wushu.

You say fuck realism? I say fuck the homogenity of hollywood fight scenes, I'm sick of seeing a 20th century Chinese dance adapted to every fucking period in history because the tarts in silk jammies have somehow managed to corner the stunt market.

Apparently Jackie Chan has stunt doubles for his holywood films, so it's no longer all his own work.

After all of the great stunts he has done I don't believe he has anything else to prove. Also Hollywood won't let him do his own stunts in the USA because of the insurance companys.

I agree 100% one of the best fight movies ever is The Duelists with Keith Carradine and Harvey Keital directed by Ridley Scott, no wires, no flying, just grim, realistic and exciting fighting.

As someone who loves HK cinema, I still agree. I mean, I like the fight scenes in HK cinema, but I certainly wouldn't want to watch that all the time! As for great non-HK fights, how about the last fight in Rob Roy? The whole "heavy scottish sword" thing was a bit overplayed, but otherwise it was not bad at all, and fairly realistic.
