The cue to stop reading comes pretty early. "Aikido offers non-combative alternative to martial arts". But that same sentence says it loud an clear: Aikido is not combative, Aikido is not a martial art.

        ...BARRFFFFFFFFFFFF *hork hork* BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARFFFFFFFFFF!!!

But it still has Magic Pants.

            That has to . . . well . . . count for . . . something?

            Right?

And they don't mean to the practitioner? Really?

Technically speaking Aikido move can be very dangerous if you pull them off.

The problem is actually doing them to a non compliant attacker is almost impossible

I actually spar with people in my school so this comment seems pretty weird to me.

Can't comment unless you have video of what the sparing looks like.

And if it's the Tomiki rubber tanto sparring - it's still not the same thing as actual people punching you in the face sparring.

Not that there's anything wrong with that

No tanto. I meant hand to hand randori people who pass by think we're doing Judo.

It never fails to amaze me that Aikido techniques are so dangerous that they can't be practised with full contact, yet at the same time Aikido allows you to subdue opponents without injuring them.

Good point Ergo but I can't help thinking how mad Morihei Ueshiba would have been if he knew who much BS would one day befall what could at one point have actually been an effective martial art.

So why not just do Judo?
