I'm not proud. I'm very intrigued in this fantasy movie called, coincidentally, 47 Ronin. I will pay good money to see it, sit on my butt for 2+ hours and be mightily entertained.

Then I'll go home and take a shower and hope it washes away the pop culture guilt.

And through it all, I will wonder why they didn't simply make a historical epic based on Chushingura.

Maybe the director and producers caught on the "Sucker Punch" wave and had the genius idea to explore the female nihon-philiac masses by casting Reeves to play a leading role in a Medieval Japan phantasy background -- while also pleasing the Samurai/Chosen One/Ted Logan-admiring male audience.
