It is extremely rare to find unrehearsed/alive Aikido vs whatever MA sparring clip. So, when some of these comes along, they are good to keep for posterity.

I have to admit to being a little impressed by the aikido person getting that one wrist grab takedown thingy whatever it was on the thai boxer. Other than that... HE DIDNT FIGHT HIM HE WRASTLED HIM.

It looks a bit choreographed especially how the Muay Thai Boxer gives himself willingly to the throws and only struggles for a second at best before letting the Aikido guy flip him. Course the Muay Thai boxer won in the end (I think?), but that light contact left the video lacking in the realism department.

Thats called kotegaeshi. I was more surprised by the Aikidoka throwing kicks. Oh, as for it looking more like wrasslin', I think thats what happens when you use Aikido in an alive sparring match. It only looks pretty when you have a compliant or semi-compliant partner.

Its in Russian, obviously. The announcer is just basically being a propaganda machine explaining how both style are effective. He does tilt to the Aikido side much too often. And that was VERY light sparring. If the Thai boxer WAS a champion of Belarus like the video said, then I would suppose he would fight much better. Still an interesting video overall.
