say, there is a theory being floated that these threads are actually done by FSD
instructors/students to draw attention to their clubs. "No such thing as bad publicity" Any thoughts on that?

      Get Rich and Prevent Aging!

      :wtfgif9fr

Recently an ex-student provided to me the materials that he/she received in attending the "Fang Shen Do as Your Path to Success" seminar (or whatever they call it). At first I thought it was a joke, but the person insisted that it was the real deal.

Now I had heard about this seminar (and had it pushed at me) but I never attended as I was there to learn a martial art - I had all of the other bases covered and didn't need someone pitching the latest get-rich-quick idea to me. I figured that, given JP's predilection for Tony "banana-hands" Robbins that it would be a lot of that mixed in with a bit of kung-fu flavour in order to get potential school owners all excited. What I found was completely different. Here are a few choice quotes:

"You will experience integrated thinking (Vision Nine), which will eventually take you into Neothink puzzle building."

"Before long, you will see a puzzle-picture forming that has never been seen before... your first leap into the new, Neothink mind-space of the God-Man."

I know what you're thinking, because I was thinking the same thing - WTF!?!?!?

I knew that this couldn't be original, becuase JP just doesn't use terms like "neothink". There was also a chart that included words like "Bicameral" (see attachment). So I started Googling. It didn't take me long to find the source. There's a whole "neo-tech" philosophy/cult/whatever out there that was started by "Dr. Frank Wallace" (real name Wallace Ward), who was a chemist at DuPont.

Looking over some of the neo-tech stuff, JP's recent "anti-aging" bent becomes more clear. It turns out that Wallace was obsessed with immortality. I thought about scanning in some of the material and posting it, but as it turns out I don't have to. You can read it all right here:

      http://www.neo-tech.com/book1/

There are some minor differences, but otherwise it's word-for-word. I don't know whether they had permission to use this material or if they just decided to use it. This is, bar-none, the most bizarre thing that I've ever seen. I mean, I knew that the Patenaudes were kinds, y'know, "out there", but this takes the cake. It's days like this that I thank God (the real one, not the man-one) that I got out of that organization when I did.

This thread just perked up, eh, Dictionary69?

Say, Dictionary69, you were going to make a comparison between Bruce Lee and Jacques Patenaude, that would still be fun, and it would liven up this place. It's either that or new drapes, hard to decide.

              Stringfellow,

That shit doesn't surprise me at all. Nothing would satisfy JP more if he could stop the hands of time and become immortal. I wonder if he's reading this? If you are JP I would like to recommend "The Celestial Prophecy" by James Redfield. It's a great book about a man traveling to Peru because of a secret. Anyway, to make a long story short, apparently there was a society that had elevated themselves spiritually to such a point that they became immortal. They lived on earth but in a completely different realm. No one could see them because they weren't as spiritually elevated. Infact, very few people will ever be able to reach that point. Although the book is fiction, many believe it's fact. I don't know, but you might be able to pull a seminar or two out of it. Maybe charge aroung 999.99$

Your post reminds me Stringfellow. My friend sent me all the stuff on the FSD anti-aging seminar and I think I still have it. I'll look through it when I get the time and see if I can find any other crazy shit.

Well if you consider exposing a MA school with a money grab attitude 'not much',
then they are not doing much of anything i guess...except to draw attention to questionable FSD practise and get over 10,000 hits :)

Actually this thread is doing a great job

                    Hello!!

I was just reading an old thread on a throwdown that was being held in montreal? Would there be anyone interested in doing one in Ottawa? Always wondered how my training would compare to other arts and I would like to see if what you guys are saying about all this great stuff that you say is missing in FSD. Any takers? I know some of you will say to go to tournaments and stuff but there is too much politics in those. Did anyone go to one of the schools finnaly to chalenge one of these guys? Would love to get the details. Cheers for now

I am very willing to post videos of how well any FSD practicioners do at an open tournament. Be it kickboxing/karate/TKD/BJJ/wrestling/grappling or god forbid MMA.

Just let me know which one you will be entering, I will bring the camera.

Don't worry, I'll be able to figure out which ones you are. You'll be wearing the sandles that match your hand-bag.

But then again, the homophobia and racism of the Fang Shen Do crowd would be interesting to see at a throwdown. Given the multi-racial make-up of the Ottawa area.

about the racism thing, I remember that at one party to celebrate the anniversary of the school, Sijo came to give us a little visit. I remember he was talking about some principle of whatsoever... He took a quit look of the group searching for "someone", then he said quietly, like if he was telling us a secret: "you know those asian they don't like that kind of stuff".
Anyway their racism and homophobia will never stop them from making some $$$.

                            The history of FSD website

                            :needpics:

So here is a very scientific evolutionnary diagramm about the Fang Shen Do website. You will be struck, like me, by the constant evolution towards a cheap telemarketing design in the following pages.

                            2000

                            2003

                            2004

                            2005

you may call me the internet master :)

Damn the only thing missing from that above website is the ubiquitous ACT NOW SPACE IS LIMITED

Nice dig, GreenHornet. I'd also note that the wayback machine also still holds the original articles that used to appear on the site:

                                http://web.archive.org/web/200206090.../text/art7.htm

They're mostly "fluff" pieces, designed to lend credibility. Article 5, which seems to be a sort of "origin" for FSD, linking it to Bruce Lee, Yip Man, and Ng Mui, gave me a few chuckles, especially this:

Think of yourself with a glass head, with a bean curd body protected by an iron hand.
                                - Fang Shen Do Proverb -

I didn't know that FSD had proverbs. I also found this interesting:

Master Patenaude's system, which retains Ng Mui's principles of efficiency and simplicity, is a system which is approximately 60% of his own design.
I'd like to see how he'd back up that claim, considering that everything I've seen of FSD makes it basically a rip-off of Wing Chun Do. Article 4 has some interesting information as well:

Apart from operating a Kung Fu and Fitness school with his wife, Linda, Jacques Patenaude is a certified trainer in (NAC) with the Robbins Research Institute. He is a personal development specialist with many years of practice on a 'one on one' basis with his students. The husband and wife team operate their consultation service under the name P.D.S. or Personal Development Services Inc. Jacques Patenaude assists his clients in a number of areas from controlling emotional states to eliminating detrimental habits like smoking, drug addictions, etc. He also consults on marriage and relationships, business and career counseling, elimination of stress, goal setting and phobia cures.
I knew banana-hands was in there somewhere. Two of the articles are in French. Article 7 has some information I haven't seen before:

My French is pretty spotty, but I believe JP says that DeMile came to Sarnia in 1975 to form some sort of special group, of which he was the only Canadian member. That I haven't heard before.
