    So you would bend over between a guys arms when he grabs you by the shirt with both hands at that distance, to hit him in the ribs on the left side with your right elbow? I would not attempt that application and I do not think that I would be hit with it when attacker in that scenario.

    i just want to express how aikido is effective if you see beyond the aikidance that too many people equate with aikido... there is really nothing new in any martial art... the human body and physics are pretty much all there is to it...

    Omar, if you're reading this, would that duck under the strike be a good opening to do an elbow strike? It just seems like the posture you end up in could be used to do that, a horse stance with forward leg penetrating their stance.
