I went today to buy some .40 caliber and 9 mm rounds and a few boxes of buckshot to add to my [seriously lacking] stockpile. The first store had none of the ammo I needed, the second had the buckshot but not the others, and the 3rd and 4th had no pistol rounds at all. I finally had to go to the store at the shooting range and buy it from them at a higher cost.
    If it keeps.

Apparently, people are hoarding bullets now, and it's not making this whole preparedness thing very easy.

What, pray tell, is it about a single action pistol with an exposed hammer, manual safety and low cap mag that you find so uber deadly? Is it the fact that you have to (dangerously) carry it "cocked and locked" to have any chance of deploying it quickly?

    lol

Now that I think about it what you'd really want for zombie invasion is a Browning Automatic Rifle loaded with .30 cal JSPs.

You can't use NVG's all the time... besides, LED head lamps use WAY FEWER batteries than Night Vision in the long run.

& according to the predominant zombie literature, they don't have to see you. Apparently, smell is enough for them to accurately navigate towards fresh meat/the uninfected. Hey, don't ask me, I just know what I read....

Here are my zombie killing firearms.

I'm thinking for a vehicle, mounting one of these in the back of a GMC HD dually would work for dealing with large numbers of zombies.

For a melee weapon, I'm thinking a cutlass.

    And shoot better...

Headlamps are great, though. I've got three, & one for the little lady. It actually had little flowers on the band... whatever works.

Cause zombies don't dance, and if they don't dance, well, they're no friends of mine.

Waiting times vary, by statute it is to be issued in 60 days. My friend just turned in the paperwork in his town and was told 3-4 months. I turned mine in Fri night and was told I coluld pick mine up on Tue. My friend is doomed to be zombie fodder. NJ sucks but at least the cops in my town have their shit together.
You poor man. Here in Arizona, you don't have to go through the police at all really. No waiting periods, you just submit some information for a background check when buying the weapon and take it home, and within 30 days law enforcement is required by state law to throw out records of your firearm purchase. Only things you have kept on record are class 3 purchases, if you're lucky enough to even have a class 3.
