This has already been done so many times, but it's my favorite topic so i'll play. also, it's apocalypse. lol

AK47. Big, common round. Ultra-reliable weapon. Sawed-off double barrel shotgun for close range zombie head disintegration. Sleep with a Ruger super redhawk alaskan 2" .45 in my hand. Carry some pipebombs and a zippo in case i get caught by a mob.

I'd get a decent all terrain motorbike for transport (bmw dakar or ktm superduke), which would give me another good reason to wear a full face helmet, thick riding leathers, big ass boots and thick gloves.

    knife? sword? no. chainsaw.

As a functioning relic...some 1911s are amusing and fun to play with. However...stick with a 9mm or 40SW. You could go the Glock 21 or HK USP route if you're a die-hard 45ACP fan...but meh....let's stick with modern calibers. :XXonlyamo

I'm no expert Goon, but this looks like it would be a comforting piece of ironmongery to have to hand.

          Just no.

The MP5 is a lousy zombie apocalypse weapon.

For one, nobody likes those things anymore.

Two, you've got to weigh ammo conservation, weight and the versatility of your weapon against it's potential killing power. For all it's counterstrike sexiness, the MP5 doesn't have a lot of stopping power - unless you don't mind burning 30 rounds ON A SINGLE FUCKING ZOMBIE! This would be a tragic waste.

I'd stick with a shotgun, and I'd make sure to recover what shells I could. You can always re-load them with gravel if need be.

If the zombie's far downrange, the zombie is someone else's problem.

If there are many, many zombies, you'll want to skip the firearms and employ some sort of thermobaric - spray and pray SMG routines would result in disaster.
Wow, I stand corrected. Thank You for the insight. However, they do have the .45 cal version?

Probally posted before, but you can never be too prepared.

A good option: Gravity gun plus saw blade.

hmmm... not sure why that didn't show up right.

Very important question here: Which kind of zombie apocolypse are we talking about?
Old school Romero? New Wave "Fast Zombies"? Demonic zombies brought forth by the Necronomicon? Those crazy Italian zombies that can box and do kung fu? Or Return of the Living Dead style super zombies, in which case we're all screwed anyway?

Goddammit I hate those fast zombies.

Someone asked if I got to shoot an XD already. No, that's hard to do in NJ as even the few surviving gun ranges aren't allowed to rent guns. I'm taking this on blind faith, hence the thread for additional info.

I bet all those sword larpers would be feeling pretty smug in a real zombie apocolapse: "pull guard now BJJ nuthuggers" they'd be saying.

The XD is a pretty well reviewed weapon. I thought the M&P was a little more comfortable than the XD when I shot them side by side, but they were both pretty good.

                  I'm sure you'll love it.

Have none of you read the Sombie Survival Guide??? You have to go with a .22 bolt action for your primary weapon (scilenced if possible). The ammo is plentiful, small enough so you can take a ton with you, does amazing damage pinging around inside a zombie skull and allmost everyone has one. Secondary weapon should be a pistol, but if you are down to using that you are pretty much screwed any ways. Also, explosives do almost no damage against the undead because they deal more of a blunt force trauma from the concussion blast and that has a very low percentage of destroying a brain.

Aren't most injuries in Iraq brain trauma from IED's?

Saw a TIME article on that last year. Probably right though since a dead brain swelling won't kill a zombie or hinder it in anyway.

Foolish. Save the gas for your bike. Blades don't run on gas or need reloading.

those kinds of gas powered tools use a gas/oil mix that is bad for the bike, and it lasts for a pretty long time.

for non fuel-powered weapons, maybe some machetes. light, shorter than a sword but longer than a knife, and the wide blade makes for good deep cuts. still wont go through bone like a power saw though.

Baseball bat. I don't have a whole lot of experience with proper decapitation technique, nor with getting a stuck blade out of a carcass.

Calico 960. Because 9mm is everywhere, more than enough to pierce the brainpan, longer barrel than most sub-guns, and I don't want to be reloading on anyone's terms but my own. A suppressor would be nice, but I admit I don't know the details needed, either legal or mechanical (whether or not it accepts one without modification).

Not sure too sure on the sidearm, not am I terribly picky. Just something that is manageable with one hand, and no-way no-how going to jam or misfire in anyway. Something with more capacity than a revolver, however.

Actually, I'm thinking it'll be more of the "disenfranchised, registered Democrat"-type that will start wandering aimelessly around in about 2-years when none of the hope and change that was pandered doesn't come to pass.

Oh, and a bicycle. If I run out of fuel for that, I've clearly got bigger problems, and name one other source of locomotion (other than yourself) that you can life/toss over obstacles if need be.
