Very important question here: Which kind of zombie apocolypse are we talking about?
Old school Romero? New Wave "Fast Zombies"? Demonic zombies brought forth by the Necronomicon? Those crazy Italian zombies that can box and do kung fu? Or Return of the Living Dead style super zombies, in which case we're all screwed anyway?

A good option: Gravity gun plus saw blade.
hmmm... not sure why that didn't show up right.

The MP5 is a lousy zombie apocalypse weapon.
For one, nobody likes those things anymore.
Two, you've got to weigh ammo conservation, weight and the versatility of your weapon against it's potential killing power. For all it's counterstrike sexiness, the MP5 doesn't have a lot of stopping power - unless you don't mind burning 30 rounds ON A SINGLE FUCKING ZOMBIE! This would be a tragic waste.
I'd stick with a shotgun, and I'd make sure to recover what shells I could. You can always re-load them with gravel if need be.
If the zombie's far downrange, the zombie is someone else's problem.
If there are many, many zombies, you'll want to skip the firearms and employ some sort of thermobaric - spray and pray SMG routines would result in disaster.
Probally posted before, but you can never be too prepared.

I'm no expert Goon, but this looks like it would be a comforting piece of ironmongery to have to hand.

This has already been done so many times, but it's my favorite topic so i'll play. also, it's apocalypse. lol
AK47. Big, common round. Ultra-reliable weapon. Sawed-off double barrel shotgun for close range zombie head disintegration. Sleep with a Ruger super redhawk alaskan 2" .45 in my hand. Carry some pipebombs and a zippo in case i get caught by a mob.
I'd get a decent all terrain motorbike for transport (bmw dakar or ktm superduke), which would give me another good reason to wear a full face helmet, thick riding leathers, big ass boots and thick gloves.
knife? sword? no. chainsaw.Last edited by Neildo; 1/04/2009 5:03am, .

Remington 870 for close up work, winchester model 70 .264 magnum for picking off super mutants post nuclear apocalypse, and Bersa 9mm for finishing off crawling zombies. Coldsteel knife for shanking Irradiated Survivors.

My own zombie arsenal consists of a 30-30 lever action, pump shotgun and 9mm pistol. I want to get an M-14 but just can't justify the expense at this point.Last edited by hapkido_keith; 1/04/2009 1:29am, .

I have a tear running down my eye... *sniff* This thread is amazing.
As I said, Benelli M4. If there's a horde, I have no need to pump between shots. That's especially handy if they're the running-type zombies. Should the AA-12 finally be released in a civilian model, I'll be upgrading to that. The glock 19 with hollowpoint would be good so long as I know I can pop off headshots, and of course my colt would be helpful against them if I find myself in need of knockdown power. My AR only needs to come out as a last resort if all of my other weapons run out of ammo.
As for machines rising against us, I'll take a lesson from the terminator and keep my ass running! Hopefully uncle sam isn't trying to make C3P0.

I have already posted my zombie invasion plan.
With zombies, it is important to destroy the motor centers of the brain, as damage to other parts of the body will not actually kill them. Shotguns are good for close range due the the ease of aiming, but smaller calibers are quite effective if employed accurately.
Should Judgment Day occur, however, I would expect shotguns to be quite useless, at least with conventional ammunition. Armor penetration is key when engaging machines, which means rifles, rockets, and heavy machineguns, not to mention antitank mines for destroying tracked hunter-killer units. I can see .50BMG rifles with SLAP and Raufoss rounds being quite useful in this scenario.
