It was the plot for Season 5.
I'm not giving you my opinion, I'm telling you how it is.

      Actually, yes.

This is my point exactly. Obama's family was not wealthy. How was he funded? Ivy Legue schools cost lots of money, his credit probably wouldn't be in the best of shape after 8+ years of private college. Also, he admitted to cocaine use. I'm not a W nut-rider. I don't see how he was qualified either, but at least he didn't have quasi-socialist rhetoric in his past. Also, they didn't interview the people I put on my list, they asked around and interviewed seemingly random people that I knew.

My guess is that Obama will make some enemies in the intelligence community, and that they will probably handle him a lot like they handled W (just tell him enough so that when he tells him friends about the briefings, they won't be too severely comprimised.

That's SOP for every president. The president doesn't need to know every little detail of how we do what we do. Really, it's better if he doesn't.

Debt does not equate to bad credit history. A TS investigation is designed for two purposes:

1.) Evaluate whether or not the person requesting it is a scumbag who is not trustworthy enough to have access to sensitive information.

2.) Assuming the former is not true, evaluate whether the person requesting it is vulnerable to external pressure (ie blackmail) for exploitation.

Considering the fact that such investigations focus on the previous 7-10 years of your life (discounting felony convictions), neither Bush nor Obama would really have an issue.

Let's put it this way: I'm in a unit that will be exposed to the highest level of risk if our OPSEC is compromised, and I am not at all worried about Obama as president*.

*This is not to say that I am happy about the results of the most recent presidential election. I really don't care, because I'll always have a mission.

[mrm1775]Attacking an executive's character because you disagree with his policies is just a way of ducking the issue. -

Are you sure? Character assassination is a political strategic tactic. Erode public trust of elected leadership and usually it goes into a maintanance (i.e CYA) mode. Attacks on character may effectively change public policy and related actions or election outcomes.

Are you sure that possible coming changes in policy and admin personnel in regards to socialist/marxist/other governments may not have any effect? Really? Someone may correct me, but wasn't there a clearing of assets during the Carter admin?

Yes, I'm sure, and you just proved my point for me. Character assassination is a political tactic, not a legitimate form of debate.

Agreed on the definition. Does not prove your point on ducking the issue. Why have a reasoned polictical debate when over time, character assassination will effect the desired outcome?

The second amendment is a civil right not a privilege. Continued character assassination and misrepresentation of individual acts will result its loss because most people vote on perception.

Of course, I may have entirely missed the point of the post originally replied to.

Obama has no real interest in your guns. In a perfect world, he probably wishes you didn't have them, but mostly he hates the political blowback that comes with the issue. He will fight (behind the scenes) within his own party to keep gun control off the agenda. But he won't expend a huge amount of political capital doing it, and if it comes to an open vote, he will support it because he has to.

If you don't understand that, you know shit about politics.

You should be rooting for Obama to run strong, because if he gets weak, DiFi and the other true believers might very well push this issue.
                This is exactly right.

Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.

                    1. Tiahrt protects gun owners from corrupt city officials going out and building justifications for paramilitary raids on law abiding citizens. Repealing it would give anyone a shopping list for guns.

                    2. There is no gun show loophole.

                    3. The assault weapons ban would be signed by Obama in a fucking heartbeat.

Well, to address the OP...which at this point almost feels like a hijack of the thread!!....

I recommend a Springfield XD pistol. I carry an XD40 and am very happy with it. Has a 12 round magazine, rounded edges (except the rear site..but that hasn't been an issue), and is VERY easy to take apart and clean.

I conceal carry AND open carry (which is completely legal in VA) daily. Good weight with good knock down power. It's also fun and easy to shoot at the range. Has a pretty decent range for a pistol and won't break your wrists with its recoil.
