Where do yo find yourself getting stuck?

EDIT: And so that I am not encouraging crappling practice. Where do you train and what has your instructor showed you so far on this sweep?

You know, you could always ask him at his site (and donate a little cash).

This is a very BASIC sweep. If the DHS gods move this to Gitmo I'll post some links..............

OR....you can type "Hook Sweep BJJ" into Google and do it yourself.......

OR...you can, and should, talk to you instructor.

Although it is a basic sweep, most people don't get it right.
          Here's some tips:
          1) When you start your head should be further forward than your butt.
          2) Your underhook/overhook should weld his shoulder to yours.
          3) You should control his other wrist (push it towards his groin) as you start to roll.
          4) Your hooking leg should maintain a 90 degree angle at all times.

If you find that you are still having difficulty - then go back and revisit the points above because I guarantee that you aren't doing them all properly. Most people when performing a technique manage to get the various steps about 50% right. The difference between a blue or a purple belt and a black belt when performing a technique is that the black belt will generally be more effective with each step in the process.

I used to know so many variations and re-counters for this sweep - simply because I had to. If however, you learn to do this sweep correctly, you can throw all of those variations and counters out.

Also, even though this is a basic sweep, I don't believe I knew how to do it *properly* until I got my black belt.

If you have some good links, put them up. A good, technical discussion of the hook sweep seems fine for DHS. (Or maybe this thread can go to technique forum no one ever uses). Doing the basics well is important at every level, as I understand it.

I'm not gonna bother to post any links simply because you can do a Google search yourself and get the same links I found.

What I would STRONGLY suggest is focusing on the four small, but very important, technical observations referenced by JohnnyS above.

If you do not have a qualified instructor...get one. Sorry, that is just the standard mantra for techniques described over the internet.

Otherwise, search for the tech to see a generalized overview of what the Hook Sweep is, and then get on the mat and focus on JohnnyS's tips to maximize your proficiency at it.
