Damn. It looked like the osoto gari was 60-70% there; the guy in blue pulled the reversal/counter while off balance.....incredible.

See that's the problem with judo judges, they dont actually watch the fights. Have you ever seen a judo judge get down and see whats going on with ground work? They never do. In fact most of them are lucky if they even look in the direction of the fight.

To me it looked like an Ura Nage, but I know that subtle differences change what the throw is called.

This is the information I found regarding wha the refs were discussing.
The fight was probably the semifinal fight of Paris Super A-tournament 2004.

MARGOSHVILI David (Georgia) beat BENBOUDAOUD Larbi (France) by 1 0 1 1 - 0 0 0 0

What were the referees discussing?
- Benboudaoud hits the mat with his neck > should have been hansoku make?
- Benboudaoud never hits the mat with his back > should have been wazari?
That's good question, I thought ura nage too. I inquired in Judofurm just minute ago.

Wow. It looked to me like the guy in blue (GIB) moved like a wrestler because that was one of the greatest back-bridges I have ever seen. GIB was initially rotating around the guy in white (GIW) while below GIW's hips. Do Judoka do this very often?

Also look in the second part of the clip that's in slow motion. Notice the angle and the altitude of GIB's hips once he begins his counter. Bizarro Root mentioned his athleticism, I think his timing was in-freaking-credible as well. GIB completely rotated GIW's torso from head up to head down while at a less than 45 degree angle from the ground. Outfuckingstanding Pyle.
Shut the hell up and train.

"Hey did you hear that loud thump?"

"That one thirty seconds ago?"

"Yeah, that one"

"Yeah."

"Hmm...well, I guess he threw him but now he's in a triangle"

"Call ippon anyway"

A normal human would have been Ipponed from the Osoto. Obviously blue is not a human.
