For sure but, I think a needed thing to keep things moving along is the inclusion of knee reaping. So that you don't end up with two people in guard for 2 hours.

I would agree. Is knee reaping a nono in no-gi? We tend to stay within Judo or Sambo rulesets in practice and haven't competed much yet.

This is IBJJF knee reaping rules and you can see how much they really suck, I do believe they apply to both Gi and Nogi equally.

Yeah, in IBJJF rule sets this rule applies to their gi and no-gi categories, I had thought it was different a few years ago, but when I checked I realised they just hate leg locks.

Learned to deal with it since Australia has such a limited competition circuit all of them are IBJJF outside of the Lockdown comp which is a grapple in a cage thing I haven't yet attempted.

I think this has to do with the fact that it really shows the biggest weakness of the old school Gracie JJ and Judo ground game.
It made a lot of sense in Kano's and even Helio's time to not work them for safety concerns. Back then if you did get injured by one the damage done was pretty damn near permanent. Now though most of those injuries are quite correctable with modern sports medicine.

Great new sub only format, I hope there will me more and more similar coming...

I would very much welcome the names of the competitors appearing on screen in the videos though, as I don't know most of them...

That rule is fucking stupid. And I say that as someone with an torn ACL.

I agree with you on that, would be a nice little adjustment to have that, maybe their affiliation as well, potenial rank icon. Just to give viewers a bit more information without taking up too much realestate, help buy-in to the competitors that are up and comers. Most of them I wanted to check out afterwards, but wasn't sure who they were at all.

Like the highlight format as well, kept the action pace going if they weren't doing stuff, made the watching more enjoyable. I'd like it if they kept this format for releasing the videos, and then also offered a full match option to watch as well if you want to get down and gritty with all the move transitions.

Overall, really liked the format, enjoyed the matches, and some slick slick moves and insane flexibility being showed by the competitors. Jeff Glover is always fun to watch, though I did feel his "meh" type style to be grating at some points, just crush the dude and move on if you have that little respect for their abilities (also know it's his 'style', but still).

It depends on the rules of the tournament. IBJJF always disallows knee reaping, however, NAGA and many other tournaments tend to use there own submission wrestling rulesets for their No-Gi divisions that often allow reaping at the advanced levels.
