    Armbar montage 101

So this is something I've been contemplating for a long time. I see all this fascination on these holds that are extremely low percentage with very little exploration on basic maneuvers and all their variations. So Coffeefan and I are going to get together a group of videos to help you out. Our first is this armbar collection. If there's any here that you need broken down let me know:

Props! Armbar is one of the great top 5 subs. Can you break down the one that starts at 1:49?

You mean the Omapolatta combo? It's quite simple actually. If you know your standard entry into the omapolata but you can't seem to get the angle you simply elevate your hips to force the person into a roll.

When we did these armbars we made sure not to tell any of the practitioners which ones we were doing to make it look as natural as possible.

Any key to making sure they don't turn out at around 1:52, besides wrist control and squeezing the knees?

Yes, don't force the maneuver. In the following group of videos we'll go over this. The problem many beginners face is forcing moves that aren't there. You can see it in the blooper section.

It was a lot of fun doing it but my shoulder is paying for it today.

Note to self, switch up the arms so one does not get all the abuse.

I am the one in the black Gi taking most of the punishment, if any one was wondering.

I'm sorry if my previous post was to short.

Thanks for the video omega, I look forward to the next one.

Also, the armbar at 2:28, from scarf hold, could you walk me through it? I like it, looks fun.
