    One Handed RNC

Guys, i've been working on this, and i've actually landed it in rolling. I was hoping to get some input on it, and see if i'm maybe jockin' someone's technique, naw mean? Google has turned up nothing...so, here it goes:

Uke grabs Tori's "locking" arm (ie, the arm that goes behind the head) so its hard to use. You still have an arm across the neck (in this case, the right arm).

Now, i roll with gorrilla strength possessing home-boys, so its difficult for me to remove my emaciated, girly arms from their grips. I thought to myself, "aye, there has got to be something here". Usually i grab my shoulder and pray their grip breaks. It eventually does, but it takes a long ass time. One day, i snaked my hand from my left shoulder, and cupped the right side of my neck. I could get alot of squeeze, but not quite enough, so i looked up and......tap.

I've been told its comparable to my normal RNC, but this one sometimes does that push on the trachea and make you gag thing.

I've found it get it easier when I've flattened out the turtle, but its not much harder when you've just got the hooks.

So, whats the verdict? New(ish), old, ancient, dead horse? Weaknesses/flaws?

    Tear me apart.

:5umbrella I've trained with a Judo Blackbelt who used it when people who grab onto his other hand and stall. Sorry buddy, not original. I've even got a book too that shows it.

You can finish an RNC one handed, but you better do it against white belts.

This one was actual pseudo-technique. I think we've all finished the squeezey one handed one for lulz, on white belts who aren't used to being choked, but this was against a guy as good as myself and he fights off chokes like Jesus fought off that Army of Terminators trying to over-take Jerusalem.

A good place for this technique is when someone sits out of the omoplata and they leave their neck out for the taking.

I've seen a picture of BJ Penn doing it in a Grappling Magazine once, not new.

My verdict is that it isn't nearly as solid as a traditional RNC, a lot easier to escape, and will probably only work if you catch a guy napping. I would stick with the RNC

Well, duh, but like i said, my training partners have t3h r34l gorilla strength, and hold onto one of my arms.

Perhaps you should spend more time learning how to free the trapped arm rather than attempting the D34dly one-armed RNC. Position BEFORE Submission and all that...

My arms are too stumpy for this. I finally figured out how to stop all that arm grabbing gorilla nonsense though. When I get someones back I let them turtle, then hook both my hands under their armpits, clasp them together if possible, but it's not necessary, and start yanking and kicking my legs out until they are flattened. Then I can choke them with anything... one hand, 2 fingers, a forearm.... Flattened people are easy to choke. And they don't have any room to grab my arms and yank them around.

The main weakness of this move is that it is often easy for them to relieve most of the choking pressure by turning their head toward the arm that is across their throat.
Shut the hell up and train.

i'll have to look more into this move. i have gangly, super long, spider leg type limbs. might be able to make it work in the right situation.

it never occurred to me before, to even try an one armed RNC.
