Yeah, I do too. But I guess people, like Wing Chun guys, got tired of getting their asses kicked in real competition. And the streets before sexperv tries the street argument.

I think most people really want to learn to fight and now that their is real information and video out there, they can make a better choice than watching old KungFu movies. The KungFu school I trained at was a Wing Chun school for like 15 years, then they started competing in San Da and stopped the Wing Chun completely because everyone got tired of having their faces punched in. The school and instructor stopped teaching and brought in a whole different lineage which was successful in San Da and moving push hands competitions. Luckily all that happened before I got there. :D

Amateur MMA still has these, my favorite are the face tattoo street toughs fighting a well trained opponent.
Of the single rapier fight between valiant men, having both skill, he that is the best wrestler, or if neither of them can wrestle, the strongest man most commonly kills the other, or leaves him at his mercy.

I think we need a thread for this.

There is some kind of street fight video group that fight in a weird fenced in circle in random places. I forget the name of it, but the videos pop up on my facebook all the time. Those are pretty funny. Sometimes they box only, sometimes grapple, MMA, whatever is agreed on.

Forget DVDs. To learn real Kung Fu, you must get beaten up a lot first, especially by yourself, preferably with lots and lots of Earth, Water, Fire, Heavy Metal, and Wood element.

In that specific order. These are metaphors of course.

The other one like StreetBeefs is STRELKA - Street Fight Championship

However I was talking about more legit Amateur promoters that do Unified Rules.
But these are fun as well.
Aside from you know actually rolling, watching these is where I laugh at the concept of someone untrained launching a ground and pound against even a blue belt let alone a black belt even if that black belt is an IBJJF specialist.
Its funny as hell watching how little untrained people know about grappling and how hard it is for them to even maintain a combat base.

                  Totally agree!
I really don't think one can learn much from those online courses but as regards Chun, there is a very good video on Youtube, which is this:

                  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU1iyJKPEq8

I wasted a fairly long time with Chun and I believe it is a sub-par solution to self defence worries but the video is sound "if" one really wants to learn Chun (at least its basics).

Without sparring outside the WC community, none of it will ever work for SD.

Now I know several very good, well rounded martial artists who respect the concepts of Wing Chun, but not the dogma.

For example, one of the most common things taught in WC is limb manipulation. But then in the movies, including your video, that gets lost in translation with the slapstick sound effects.

The most legit WC person I know, my professor, is a BJJ black belt, Mundial champ, and MMA fighter who incorporates WC and JKD into her kickboxing.

So, there is a lot to WC that most people, especially many "legit' WC schools, just don't get or see because of their blind devotion.

                              Not by a long shot.

Anyways OP has not been back since they posted so I'm going to chalk this thread up in the win column.

Unless of course someone wants to discuss the finer Shaolin arts of Snake and Crane on a technical level.
