Straight kicks or round kicks?
I have found doing a shitty little snappy teep hurts people and is pretty simple. And you can even curve the kick so the left leg hits their left side.
Otherwise sometimes I slip and cover inside their reaching hand and then throw with that same hand.
And sometimes I sizzor punch their elbow.

I’m not the best kicker anyways, but found it difficult as
1) as they would have their hands on my gloves if I went on 1 leg to kick it would make it easy for opponent to push me and off balance me
2) in orthodox vs orthodox it is the switch kick was more open but takes long because of the switch
The snap kick and slipping sounds like it could be effective however often it is against taller opponents so feel like I would still struggle to cover the distance needed
I also oblique kick people in the body. Which works well against rangier guys at about punching distance.
Here is a covering distance trick. Go backwards. When they come forwards you go forwards. And so you cover ground more quickly before they can react and change direction.
And finally here is some lomenchenco doing some had trapping. Which of course you can do as well.

I mean there is no reason to let them take a hand position unopposed.
Also you don't have to offer resistance when they push. It is your arm. Go limp.Last edited by gregaquaman; 1/26/2020 3:30pm, .

Recently my training partners and I have discovered that if they use a long guard/hand trapping style I.e. they reach out, basically fully extend their arms and grab/rest them on my gloves. That it basically shuts my offence down
1) it makes them able to stop my forward momentum so they can keep me at range
2) I have to try and punch around their gloves which doesn’t really work
I looked online for any videos/articles but couldn’t really find much (most that I found were actually about how to use the long guard well and make it effective), I read one that said to counter with body kicks works well, as their arms are extended. I tried this but found it quite awkward, as well as quite slow (kicking isn’t my best game anyways),
but yeah, any advice or thoughts would be appreciated, thanks
How? I can’t visualize this... knock hands away then follow up quickly? Create angles with lateral movement? What have you tried so far?

The issue from what they are doing is they force a position where you try to cut angles at a really vulnerable range. And so as soon as you get tricky you get popped and you can't really go straight in because their hand is there.
It is a massive fart around if the guy can play that game well.
And obviously if you thrash in he steps off and picks you off. A mate of mine is annoying as he'll at doing basically that.
