I've been at Isshinryu for a couple years now. In our "light-to-moderate contact" sparring I've gotten 4 broken ribs, 2 separated rib cages a broken finger and 2 nastily sprained thumbs. No injury has come without a lesson learned. Well - maybe the first rib or two...
I started Kyokushin Karate when I was six, and eventually got to my brown belt. Karate has always stayed with me and I think it makes you tough, if you train with the right people. OSU.
'sfunny---I always thought my opponents were just weak. Couple of strikes, some kicks, and they just wanted to quit.
Turns out karate was a good idea after all.

True and depends on the School you go to and what you learn and how good the instructor is
