Before jury selection began for his trial in early August 2011, the initial charges against Son were dropped having expired due to the statute of limitations. Son was then charged with conspiracy to commit torture and murder, crimes which have no statute of limitations.

At least the guy he killed in jail was a kiddie diddler. Considering the life Mr. Son has been living up until this point, the murder of a paedophile may turn out to be his greatest achievement in life. Which is pretty sad in itself, really.

But in all seriousness: killing a child molester is sometimes part of prison gang initiation. I wouldn't be surprised if a group heard of his ability to take a shot to the nads and sought him out as an addition to their posse.

Joe Son did carry a cross, like his pal Kimo, on his own special day with Hackney at UFC 4. It's in the video that bobyclumsyninja posted earlier in the thread. Son, BTW, had only 4 MMA fights, all losses.

Son is doing life in prison, but didn't start serving that sentence until September 2011. In October 2011, according to prison authorities, he murdered his cellmate. As far as I can tell, that trial is still pending.

His 2011 conviction was for a 1990 crime, but they didn't have the DNA evidence linking him to it until his arrest for an unrelated offense in 2008.

Meanwhile, he fought in 4 MMA fights and 1 kickboxing bout, all of which he lost. There seems to be tape floating around for his 2 Pride fights and his UFC fight, but not for his 2002 Xtreme Pankration 2 main event (unsurprisingly).
