I don't know. I don't really watch TV. I think it is though. And even if it's not 100% accurate, I have seen some shows and they're generally entertaining and at least somewhat informative, but, if it's important i'd be sure to verify...

Also, I'm gonna apologize now before anyone gets their hopes up. I don't know much about Systema (read: anything) and little enough about SCA. I took this over after actually speaking with Shinkengata about how he felt about my doing a more serious take on the Teen Ninja thing (though I like the Samurai diaries better) as I saw a chance for something really interesting to come out of it. He mentioned that he was leaving and he needed a successor, I volunteered and voila. So, as I said, my apologies but I just got lucky in that I know a lot about both japanese and pseudo-japanese culture, having had experience with the "college samurai" types before. and an ex who was into everything japanese. Long story short, I apologize but I can't do justice to any of the ideas i've seen so far, and if I could I'd rather wait a bit and see how well received my samurai stuff is over a slightly longer term. But we'll see.

I think if you are going to do ARMA it would be funnier if you had him middle aged with a wife and kids and his motivation is a mid-life crisis.

Or diary of a yuppie systema student. I like how the age group got older from Ninja to Samurai, I think that helps force a difference in the story rather than just some deluded teen getting obsessed with MA. Actually Diary of a 40 something SCA student would be funnier because they actually have events where they "live mideval" life and such while arma just teaches techniques so you could have the guy actually believing he is a knight and showing up to work in armor or something.

But its your diaries, these are just suggestions.

The College Samurai is so pathetic and naive he's loveable. I'd have sake with him any time (avoiding squeezes on the arse and invitations to join in his class in case he made me his "apprentice")

*I respect ARMA a LOT. I think if they had feasting etc SCA would be out of business in no time.

I like it so far and can't wait to see what happens next. Maybe he should look into laws in modern Japan. (as far as I know the last time Seppuku was used was sometime in the 60's) also, i'm wondering if he realizes 'Hara-kiri' is considered a more vulger/slang term for 'Seppuku'...or if i'm the one with erroneous information...

    Day 90

    Dear Diary...

I have not written for a few days now, but there is much to tell. Once before I spoke of being taken into the local law enforcement halls and having to lie to these foolish westerners (I, of course, am no more western than Oda Nobunaga himself, whatever my passport my say), well, Diary, as much as I am loathe to repeat myself, I was taken again into court. It seems that the nurse I have spoken of in the past took my goodbye squeeze on the rear as sexual harassment. My repeated attempts to explain to her that my master taught it to me as a sign of respect and hope for future meetings, and it's place in traditional japanese history (After defeating Sasaki Kojiro, Musashi himself turned over his fallen opponent and gave him such a farewell, so his spirit would know that, while defeated, he was still regarded as a true warrior) fell on deaf ears.

As before I was brought into court and this time assigned a public defender, someone to help me clear my name. This was a nessacary measure, I was told, because sexual harassment is a much more serious charge. I accepted and understood the import of that, and when I sat down beside him I solemnly handed him Demon Slayer. I knew he would not be able to access it's Oni power (weakened though it is from my time in the hospital), but I was certain he would be able to make good use of it. To my astonishment he asked me, with no trace of humor or irony, what he was to do with it. My eyes widened as I realized that this "man of justice" was in no way trained to act as a second in the honorable undertaking of Hara-Kiri.

I was, and am, diary, outraged. I explained to him as quickly as proprietry would allow what he had to do, and then strode up to the judge, ignoring the remonstrations of both my less than honorable "defender" and the man known as the bailiff, and asked him to appoint someone who had achieved their full ranking, not merely a student incapable in the ways of justice. To my eternal horror (truly, I shake even as I write this) the Judge refused, even seemed surprised when I explained my greivance. When I realized how ignorant the entire system was I made a choice, Diary. I felt the spirit of Kenshin in me as I knelt on the floor and prepared to give them a demonstration of justice. I explained to them calmly as I did so, drawing my tanto Inu Yasha, specially prepared for just this, that I could not abide their lack of honor and knowledge of justice, and so I would act in the only honorable way possible. I would give them a demonstration to open their eyes. I could think of no more fitting a task for a great Samurai like myself than to bring the brilliant light of Japan into the soul of Gaijin justice. I ordered my defender to draw Demon Slayer and stand at the ready. In awe of my great honor he obliged, looking confused all the while (I'm sure it was Demon Slayer's aura as much as anything.)

And in the greatest shock of the day, the Judge stood up and ordered me out of the courtroom, saying some nonsense about the mental and emotional damage already done to me is more than enough punishment for my crimes. The truth, diary, is that she was no prepared to see the light as all of the failures of the system she's lived by come spilling out before her. I regret, of course, that I was not allowed to disembowel myself, but I realized when she said that that I had a far greater end than merely changing the system of laws of the West. Perhaps as I meditate to the sound of the Evangelian theme song played on loop I will come to understand what it is.

    Until next time, diary.

    O-buddy of mine...

I've been sitting back reading and enjoying and I look forward to your return E.R. Give me a call when you get home. As for the replacement writer, not the same but an adequate choice indeed. As a faithful follower of the Danzig-Ryu I will continue to read on and enjoy in your absence, but long for your return.

    MUSASHI!!!! MUSASHI!!!!

    Your buddy

Well, glad everyone's enjoying so far, my apologies that it's a bit different, my speech patterns are different, something I know to work on. Other than that, you'll have a new update soon, i'd advise looking for updates in the morning, as I'll most likely be writing them at night (EST), and I'd imagine that, barring any unforseen unpleasantness, and given the state of my life at the moment that seems unlikely, I should update every couple days. Oh, and for the record, the Love Kiai is what made this journal for me when I first started reading it. So yes, love Kiai for the win.
