Martial Arts on Penn and Teller's Bulls**t!

In the new 8th season on showtime Penn and teller on their show Bullshit! will be doing an episode of Martial Arts. I really hope they rip apart the mcdojos for soccer moms and I know they will tear the "new age" combat chi blasts ninja magic a new asshole.

Maybe they will expose a few NINJA MASTERS as well, including the real history of these ancient arts

    CAN'T WAIT.

Blah....I haven't liked their stuff lately. It's been a bit skewed.

Phrost or another top dog Bullshido.net member needs to contact showtime and try to get some interview time. Represent hos.

The show has probably already been done.

@ omega your most likely correct. The air date for the show is
          82 8-03 24/Jun/10 Martial Arts

Unless they are shooting it and editing it a few weeks in advance (highly unlikely) the window is more than likely closed to get on the show. I sent them a message on twitter asking to find out for sure. Hopefully they get back to me quickly.

Knowing the show, I think they're more going to talk about how martial arts in general are a poor form of self defense, and will quote stats of people being shot in street fights, eventually ending with the conclusion that the best self defense is being armed, and that martial arts are bullshit.

On the bright side, those two have good taste in picking pairs of breasts to expose each episode.

I'm sure that'll be their ultimate conclusion, but I'm going to cross my fingers for some George Dillman jokes.

Penn and Teller are an interesting pair and a lot of fun to watch (and yes they find the best boobs for their shows) but they have a very bad habit of sometimes skewing the argument to favor their conclusion despite the facts. Example they did one on detoxing and concluded that because there are a lot of bullshit detox supplements and such out there than detoxing itself must be bullshit too. I expect as others have suggested we will see a similar situation here. "A bunch of chunners and larpers out there that cannot defend themselves there for all martial arts are bullshit (hey maybe they will have Mountainous on!)." Also isn't this more of a YMAS thread?

I fail to see the problem with this.

There are a lot of bullshit diet products out there. Should we conclude that weight loss is bullshit?

There are a lot of bullshit muscle gaining products out there. Should we conclude that gaining muscle mass is bullshit?

Thats the flaw in their argument in that case. They discredited detox products and thus concluded that detoxing itself is bullshit. Its flawed logic.

                            You're not hearing me.

                            1) It's the diet/muscle gaining/detox product manufacturer's responsibility to demonstrate that their products do something beneficial. That's where the burden of proof lies.

                            2) "Weight loss" is bullshit, but fat loss and muscle mass gain are well-defined goals with established benefits. The uncertainty is in the methods used to reach those goals. "Detoxing", however, has no meaning outside of the world of chemical addiction.

Your right and I am not arguing for detoxing I am using it as an example only because its the last episode I remember seeing. My argument is not that detoxing is or is not bullshit its that their argument is flawed logic and thus itself bullshit. You cannot state that detoxing is bullshit and then back up that statement by showing that bullshit detox products are sold. Its as flawed as saying that because there are people in the martial arts who cannot defend themselves then all martial arts are useless.
